Moqueca (Bahian Style Fish Stew) of Tambaqui

Tambaqui Loin Steaks

Serving: 6 portions
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • 1 package of Tambaqui Loin Steaks Nativ (420 g)
  • 3 tablespoons of aguardente
  • 4 teaspoons of lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 large onion sliced in round slices
  • 1 small Green bell pepper cut in round slices
  • 1 small yellow bell pepper cut in round slices
  • 1 small red bell pepper cut in round slices
  • 2 medium tomatoes cur in round slices
  • washed and chopped leaves of coriander
  • 1 tablespoon of dende oil (palm oil)
  • 1 teacup of coconut milk

    Arrange the Tambaqui loins still frozen in a large pot with thick bottom, season them with brandy, lime juice, and salt. Over the fish, arrange in layers the carrot round slices, bell peppers, tomatoes, coriander chopped to taste, dende oil, and coconut milk. Place the pot over medium heat, and cook for approximately 20 minutes, or until the cuts of loin are tender. Serves at once accompanied by white rice, preserved pepper and cassava flour.
